Ankle Sock Class: August 3, 10 & 17
Thursdays, August 3, 10 & 17 from 6 - 8PM
Are you ready to learn how to knit socks? Or, maybe you already know the basics of sock knitting but want to try a fun new pattern and/or magic loop knitting vs. double pointed needles?
First, choose your pattern -- Rose City Rollers (pictured) or Saturday Matinee Socks (shown here). Then, decide whether you'd like to make them with double pointed needles or a long circular needle for magic loop. We'll guide you through making one ankle sock from cuff to toe, including cast on and joining in the round, turning the heel, making a gusset, sizing it for your foot, and closing up the toe with the kitchener stitch.
This class is intended for beginner/advanced beginner knitters who already know knitting basics like cast on, knit, and purl. And, remember, a patient attitude and adventurous spirit will take you far!
Homework: Knit your gauge swatch: 24 sts and 30 rows = 3 " in stockinette stitch in the round.
Supplies needed: Rose City Rollers or Saturday Matinee Socks knitting pattern, size US 1 / 2.25 mm double pointed needles OR 40" circular needle (or size needed to obtain gauge), one-two skeins of fingering/sock weight yarn (such as Hikoo Cobasi, Woolen Boon Classic, Madelinetosh Twist Light, Manos del Uruguay Algeria, Schoppel Wolle Zauberball or Zauberball Crazy -- you'll need a second color if you'd like to add a contract color to the toe like mine) to be purchased at Home Made, and a yarn needle. Knitting needles and notions are also sold in our shop!
Class fee includes three 2-hour sessions. Supplies are sold separately.
