Here it is! The Shawl I've been referring to as my Love/Hate shawl (here and here) is actually called Summer Moon. The pattern is a fun, easy-to-memorize chevron that becomes quite addicting to knit, especially because each new color you add can really transform the look of the shawl. This was my procraftination project as I avoided doing the paperwork required for filing this year's taxes. As I do every year. It's my process.
After finding inspiration looking through all the finished Summer Moon projects on Ravelry, I decided to experiment with my color choices with the hope that it would end up looking cool and bohemian (instead of clownish). Sometimes there is a fine line between the two and you can't always know until you finish. From this point on, this shawl will be referred to as cool and bohemian. ;)
Now that it is finished, I like it. I really do. I'm even wearing it as I type this. I'm glad I went out of my comfort zone with color choices and stuck it out even when I thought I hated how it was turning out. Gotta branch out sometimes!
For my Summer Moon shawl, I used all Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light yarn in a combination of full skeins and Unicorn Tails. I have yellow, gold, red, hot pink, purple, navy, gray, white, green, and hot pink. You can buy Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light here. Unicorn Tails are available in our brick and mortar shop and custom order.
I've been so focused on knitting sweaters and other "warderobe staples" that I haven't knit with this much color in a very long time. It was refreshening and definitely worth the color risk, though I'll never hesitate knitting a project with my favorite Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light.
Have you knit with this yarn? Even if you don't go for wild colors like I did, you will love it.
