A Blue & Black Quilt

Potions and Poisons Quilt

Lately, I can't get enough of these prints from Cotton + Steel. Maybe it's because it's winter, but the blues and black are really speaking to me. While I'd love to use these fabrics for a bunch projects, I was looking to make a quick throw quilt. I chose the Potions and Poisons Quilt pattern, just one of Cotton + Steel's free quilt patterns.

The pattern was designed for a previous collection of Cotton + Steel fabrics, but I think it suits these prints just as well. What do you think?

For this design to work, you'll need two light fabrics and two dark. The pattern calls for 1 1/2 yards each of four fabrics plus 1/2 yard binding fabric. But, I must not have cut my pieces correctly because I needed a bit more of two of the prints. So, if you'd like to give this quick quilt a go, I'd recommend getting a little extra yardage to be safe. Because it's never fun to run out of fabric and then you find yourself scrambling around trying to find that exact print again. I've encountered many a sad face coming into the shop for this exact reason. . .

If you'd like to give this quilt a try, you can find the pattern here.
