I still have to find time for some craft projects amidst all this exciting home renovation! Lately, my craft projects have been directly related to preparing Home Made for its Grand Opening (TBD). For instance, the hat I’m knitting will keep me warm and fashionable while renovating. Well . . . maybe it’s too risky to wear working on the house. But, it will certainly keep me warm while out and about, thus preventing a cold/flu so I can continue home renovations and not be stuck curled up on the couch watching reruns of ‘Say Yes to the Dress.’ Follow my logic? Just give me a call if you need help justifying that new pair of shoes ;).
Perhaps a better craft project example is the old foyer table I picked up at a garage sale a few years ago.
I began hoarding lots of yard sale finds after I first began plotting to start a business. I was very focused on refinishing old furniture and found my business plan a great reason to take over my parents backyard shed. It would be an understatement to say they are now thrilled that I began hauling out some furniture pieces to finally refinish and take them to their new home.
This foyer table needs a little bit of work but I think it will be a perfect display table for Home Made’s retail shop. Once I have sanded it down, I will break out my white semi-gloss spray paint to give it a fresh look. The spray paint should help me get paint more easily into that beautiful detailing on the legs.
Then, I’ll attach some industrial caster wheels to each table leg to make this piece even more functional. If all goes as planned, this old piece will have a new life and purpose. I’ll be sure to post some photos when it’s all finished!
