Two Birds of a Feather

Do you ever play that game where you try to figure out what animal certain people most resemble? Come on, show me I’m not alone here! Well, actually, I already know for a fact that I’m not alone since I rarely play this game by myself.

Probably the most accurate person I’ve figured out is my mother.  She’s a hummingbird.

Here’s why:

She’s a cute, petite lady who buzzes around with an insane amount of energy, trying to use her hyperactive powers for good by being productive and helping people (and, I imagine hummingbirds to be a peaceful, helpful, sweet kind). And, she similarly enjoys a sugar fix throughout the day–her sugar water is a handful of Nestle chocolate morsels that she’ll periodically nibble on.

To be fair, please know that I don’t exclude myself from being a target in this game. I can’t remember the reasoning but recently I was told I am a canary (I do love me some yellow!).

It makes sense that both my mom and me would be birds. (It also makes sense that when I asked my brother as a child which animal he would like to be reincarnated as, he said a duck. Now, I just need to figure out my Dad. Which bird has a mustache???). (:

Mom, while you are safely at work today and at low risk for randomly stopping by the shop, I hope to secretly finish making your Mother’s Day present. And, then I will probably give it to you tonight because I’m terrible at waiting to give presents. And, you’ll understand (and actually anticipate early gifting) because you’re my mom.

Happy Mother’s Day, Mom! We are two birds of a feather. Flocking together. Being besties. Thank you for everything you do for me. You are inspiring, awesome, and I love you.

And, a Happy Mother’s Day to all you moms out there! I don’t recommend playing the “which animal is your mom” game because it’s risky business (unless it turns out your mom is a beautiful peacock or elegant giraffe?). But, I DO recommend making a handmade something for her. And, if you also need to give it to her early, she probably won’t care either.
