Happy Thanksgiving + Thereafter

Photography by Candice DeTore:

Home Made will be CLOSED for Thanksgiving! You probably already anticipated that but I thought I’d go ahead and remind you.

I’ll be enjoying a hearty meal with my extended family (all 25+ of us!). This year, I was assigned to make a vegetarian stuffing. Naturally, I chose a recipe for a savory bread pudding from the latest Martha Stewart Living magazine. Because bread pudding is kinda like a stuffing but with lots of eggs and cream. Chef’s interpretation, right?

While I am excited to eat some good food and spend time with family, I also have been thinking about how much I have to be grateful for. Like, this new life I’ve created with Home Made and the community of people I have found (or who have found me)–friends, family, neighbors, customers, other local businesses, YOU. (:

On Friday, we’ll get back to our usual 11AM – 6PM schedule–there will be none of that opening at 3AM stuff here!

As you kick start your holiday shopping, the 3/50 Project reminds us how we can impact our local economy by buying from local, independent shops:

  • Independent local merchants return 68% of their revenue to the community.
  • National chain and big box stores return between 13 – 43%.
  • The return from out-of-town websites is ZERO.
Read more about the 3/50 project here.
Home Made has teamed up with Dollar-Baker Sew & Vac. Starting Friday, John Dollard and I will be giving out each others coupons with purchase (!). So, if you’ve had a sewing machine on your wishlist, head over to John’s shop and he’ll set you up. And, as you know, Home Made will set you up with your sewing patterns and fabric!  Pssst—Dollar-Baker Sew & Vac is having a BIG sale on Black Friday! You can check out their website here.
Happy Thanksgiving! Thank you all for your support and helping Home Made and me feel right at home.
