SEW IT: Amy Butler’s Charm Clutch

March 22, 2012 Julie

Amy Butler's Charm Clutch

My crafting goes in waves. Sometimes all I want to do is knit. And, sometimes all I want to do is sew. I think spending 3 months painting Home Made house before I opened just over a year ago cured me of any such craving for painting.

Sewing has become my antidote to tax season. So, after spending hours cataloging every receipt from the last year, it’s only natural that I needed to stitch up a bag. Specifically, Amy Butler’s Charm Clutch. And, yes, a new system of financial organization WILL be implemented! After I make a few more bags.

Charm Clutch Interior
This pattern is easy to follow and uses fusible fleece and interfacing to give it that polished look. You’ve got a couple pockets on the inside perfect for your cell phone and keys. And, you have the option to add a zipper or magnetic snap closure. Yes, you can conquer the zipper! It’s NOT as scary as you think. I’m going to put together a class to prove it to you. (:
Charm Clutch in Heirloom

I chose fabric from Joel Dewberry’s Heirloom collection for my first Charm Clutch. I think a purse is the perfect project for those bold prints that you might normally shy away from. Accessories are supposed to be fun!  However, I have determined that I need a few of these for different occasions since it’s such a great size and gives you the options for straps, too! And, maybe because I gotta balance the less fun paperwork-y stuff with the fun crafty stuff.

For my next one, Lotta Jansdotter’s Echo fabric or Dear Stella’s Palladium? Discuss. (:

You can purchase Amy Butler’s Charm Clutch sewing pattern, fusible fleece, interfacing, and all the notions and super fun fabric you need for your project at Home Made!
