I expect that we all break for turtles around here. You better! But do you knit or quilt for turtles???
This Thursday, July 12 kicks of the Wetlands Institute‘s three-day Wings ‘n Water Festival, their primary fundraiser to support their efforts in research, education, and conservation with regard to our wetlands and coastal ecosystems. Quite a worthy cause, eh?
In addition to a whole slew of activities, talks, and events, there will be lots of art exhibited in the Festival including a Quilt Show put on by the fabulous Wetlands quilters. Every Tuesday throughout the year, these quilters meet at the Wetlands and this year, they’ve been working on a gorgeous “Turtle Dance” Quilt to be included in the Wetlands’ raffle. You can grab a sneak peek right here.
As Home Made will have a table at the Wings ‘n Water Festival Quilt Show, I thought I’d put together a special Knit Kit for the occasion. Along with yarn, fabric bundles, and some handmade goodies, we’ll be selling kits that have everything you need to make Spud & Chloe‘s adorable knit toy, Tuck the Turtle (pictured).
You can see where he gets his name! Tuck must’ve gotten scared because he sensed some of you speed racers don’t always break for his peeps. . .
So, come on by to to say hello, check out the “Turtle Dance” quilt along with a display of 100 privately owned quilts and wall hangings, and shop for some handmade goodies (10% of each purchase at the Quilt Show will go to the Wetlands Institute!).
The quilt show is to be held at St. Paul’s Catholic Church Social Hall located at the corner of 3rd Ave & 101st Street in Stone Harbor, N.J from 10AM – 4Pm on Thursday, July 12 + Friday, July 13.
