Ever since Manos del Uruguay’s Maxima yarn arrived in the shop, I bet you’ve been wondering what you’ll knit with this gorgeously soft, bouncy, and colorful merino wool. Surely, I don’t want you to lose sleep over it so let me show you what I made to offer some inspiration. If you’re going to lose sleep over knitting, why not let it be because you’re so excited to finish a project that you knit into the wee hours.
Blue Sky Alpacas has a terrific Travelers’ Series of patterns for smaller projects that come on a handy two-sided card. The pattern card fits perfectly in my project bag with my needles and hank of yarn so I can take it wherever. Like to Pub Knit Night.
I chose Manos del Uruguay Maxima in Dandelion for my Jive Mitts. You can see all our Manos Maxima colors here. The Jive Mitts are a fun and quick knit that allows you to practice your yarn-overs, increases, and decreases for a mock-cable design. The end result is a funky pair of fingerless mittens that’ll help you take on this chillier Fall weather.
Why are fingerless mittens so great? Because you can wear them and give the peace sign, drive, take photos, drink coffee, text, flip the bird, walk, talk, and chew gum! Please use your judgement as to which should and shouldn’t be done at the same time.
Surely, this isn’t the end of my love affair with Manos’s Maxima yarn. Nor with fingerless mitts. But, if you’re not feeling the Jive Mitts, why not try the Caneletto Cowl that Mom’s working on in Beehive? Or, you can check out some of the free patterns on Manos del Uruguay’s website here.
The Jive Mitts knitting pattern, Manos del Uruguay Maxima yarn, and all the other knitting tools and accessories you’ll need are available in the Home Made shop!
