I hope you’re having a terrific Valentine’s Day because somebody loves YOU. How are you celebrating?

I started my Valentine’s Day off with a trip to buy some fabric paint for an upcoming class project that I’m super excited about. Fabric paint!!! And, since I was right by the coffee shop, I threw caution to the wind and treated myself to an unnecessarily large latte. Even better was that when I went to hold the door for the lady coming out of the coffee shop, she said, “Oh, I was going to hold the door for you!”. How nice is that?! Rather than fight over who gets to hold the door for the other person, she was the first to wish me a Happy Valentine’s Day. Thanks fellow coffee-loving stranger!

Maybe because I’m in the midst of this book and putting together a yoga-related sewing project, I’ve been thinking a lot about and trying to practice self love. So, of course I couldn’t help but think of my favorite quote from Sex and the City‘s final episode as I sipped my latte on my way back to the shop. Why quote Rumi when Carrie Bradshaw’s got it covered?

Carrie Bradshaw on relationships:

There are those that open you up to something new and exotic, those that are old and familiar, those that bring up lots of questions, those that bring you somewhere unexpected, those that bring you far from where you started, and those that bring you back. But, the most exciting, challenging, and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself. And if you find someone to love the you you love, well. . . that’s just fabulous.

Whether your valentine is a romantic partner or your 2 year old nephew or your Mama, I hope you are making the most of all the love that’s coming your way. And, that you’re giving yourself some, too.

Now, go on and get yourself that latte you’ve been thinking about since I mentioned it. Or, at the very least, treat yourself to some new fabric paint!
