Hey now. Let’s move right onto another fun class project I’ve cooked up here in the Home Made studio. If you’re a “beginner” sewer — and by that I mean you’ve completed a couple of small projects and know the basic mechanics of the beautiful and mystical sewing machine — then, you’re ready to move on to quilted pillows. With zippers!
We’re going to start by learning how to do some simple quilting with a sewing machine and a walking foot. We’re talkin’ about quilting with wavy lines. Straight lines. Loops. Something simple. All of which, by the way, is great practice for a larger quilted project like place mats, a table runner, and even baby or lap-sized quilt. By the way. . .
Then, we’re going to trim and finish those edges, install a zipper, and sew it all up. You totally got this.
Once you get the gist, you can have fun by experimenting with your quilting techniques. See how I made solid ivory my base fabric and then stitched zig zags with gold thread? The quilted pillow world is your oyster! (: We just don’t have time for zig zag stuff in our short 3-hour class, is all.
You can read the full scoop including dates for our Quilted Pillow with Zipper class, along with our class policies and such, right here. Like, how you gotta register with payment to secure your spot!
So, stop in or give me a ring at 609.536.2940 and let’s get to it.
