A few weeks ago, I attended a fundraiser at Potomac Bead Company in Ocean City where I designed myself a new necklace. Super fun! Have you been? I say “designed” because I was mostly the idea person and Cat, the very patient staff member assigned to help me, was really the one responsible for turning my vision into reality.
The first day I wore my fabulous new necklace, my mother made a bit of a fuss about how nice it was to see me wearing a necklace as I don’t usually wear any jewelry but earring studs. As usual (though I don’t always admit this), my mother had a good point. A necklace did pull together my outfit and looked pretty nice, if I do say so myself.
I say this all as it’s some big revelation. Like it’s not an obvious point already. I’ve watched enough episodes of What Not to Wear to know this. BUT, sometimes I need a little reminding of the obvious because those are the bits that are often most easy to forget. True for you, too?
All that said, I’m now on a mission to make a few more necklaces to add to my wardrobe. Because they really do complete your outfit. Did you know that? ;)
Coincidentally, I just so happen to have some supplies around the shop that we could use to make ourselves some new necklaces. Go figure! So, why don’t you join us in the Home Made studio for our new Fabric + Bead Necklace class on Thursday, August 22 from 6 – 8 PM. We’ll provide all the supplies you need. All you have to do is 1) register with payment to save your spot and 2) show up, have fun mixing and matching some of our pre-cut fabric pieces and do some basic straight stitching. Well, and you have to wear your new necklace, too. And, because we’re just straight stitching here, no sewing machine experience is required. Seriously!
Typically our scheduled classes are for adults (private lessons are scheduled upon request for kids), but kids ages 12+ are welcome to join an adult for this workshop. (: Just call 609.536.2940 or stop in to register!
You can find all the class details, as well as info about all the fun projects we’re making, right here.
