The Fibre Company's Acadia Yarn{The Fibre Company’s Acadia Yarn in Kelp, Driftwood, Cranberry, Summersweet, Moraine, Strawberry, Lupine + Oyster}

Acadia by The Fibre Company is the newest yarn to arrive to the Home Made shop. Have you knit with this yarn before? It’s pret-ty dreamy.

Acadia is a DK weight yarn made of merino wool, baby alpaca and silk — a fiber combination that makes for a super soft yet rustic yarn. The silk noil creates a subtle tweed effect as the silk takes the dye differently than the other fibers, showcasing a depth of color and creating a heathered appearance.

Beatrix Baby Sweater in Acadia Yarn

Since I’m on a bit of a knitting-for-baby kick, I started on the Beatrix baby sweater from Kelbourne Woolens: Baby Collection pattern book. Acadia is so SO lovely. I chose the Moraine color way for my sweater’s main color and Oyster for the accent stripe.

When I finished, it’ll look something like this:

Handsome. Eh?

The Kelbourne Woolens: Baby Collection book has 13 terrific patterns, some for baby and others that offer sizing up to 4T. You can take a look at all the patterns here and then stop into the Home Made shop to grab a copy of your own Kelbourne Woolens: Baby Collection.

And, if you’re not on a knitting-for-baby kick like myself, you should check here for some ideas OR consider making an Age of Brass and Steam Kerchief with this delightful yarn. For those of you who identify as more of a beginner knitter, maybe you’d like to give these ribbed fingerless mitts a try.

Regardless of your skill level, knitting with Acadia is a real treat so surely we can find something for you to make so you can enjoy it. Just stop into the shop and we’ll figure it out!

The Fibre Company’s Acadia yarn, Kelbourne Woolens: Baby Collection pattern book, Addi Turbo + Takumi Velvet knitting needles, and other knitting notions are all available for purchase in the Home Made shop. Plus, we’ve got $6 Drop-In Knitting Help, private lessons, and a Learn to Knit: Cozy Neck Warmer and a Knit Hat class coming up in the New Year!
