Stellar Cowl with Manos Wool Clasica

Looking for a satisfying knitting project to get you through the next snow storm? Or, just something pretty and colorful to make and wear that’ll help combat the winter blues? The Stellar Cowl could be just the project!

The Stellar Cowl is a free pattern from Fairmount Fibers which you can find here. I think you’ll love this pattern because, well, you get a beautiful new accessory to wear when you’re all finished. Plus, this project has some ribbing, seed stitch and stockinette stitch to create some fun texture for your cowl but doesn’t detract from all those beautiful colors in the yarn. And, if you’re never tried working in the round or the seed stitch before, here’s your chance! Attention beginner knitters — you could totally tackle this project.

To make your own Stellar Cowl, you’ll need to grab the pattern here. Or, when you purchase your yarn in the shop we’ll give you a free printed copy on card stock. You’ll also need two skeins of Manos del Uruguay’s Wool Clasica yarn in a color way that makes you smile, a size US 10.5 24″ circular knitting needle, a stitch marker and yarn needle. Full disclosure: I actually used a US 11 for my shop sample and eliminated one of the pattern repeats so it was a little narrower in width.

Manos del Uruguay Wool Clasica is 100% handspun wool which is a real treat with which to knit. You’ll find that this wool gets even softer after you wet block your project making your cowl extremely wearable and warm.

Are you ready to cast on???

Manos del Uruguay Wool Clasica yarn, knitting needles, tools and accessories are all sold in the Home Made shop! We also offer loads of encouragement and Drop In Knitting Help ($6) if you need it.
