Speedy Cowl + Stovetop Hat

Speedy Cowl{Speedy : knitting pattern by Casapinka, available on Ravelry}

What was knitting life like before cowls and infinity scarves? I’m not sure I even want to imagine it. A cowl is usually the first thing I think of when I see a beautiful yarn and am brainstorming a new knitting project. I haven’t given too much thought as to why I love them so. I just do. (:

One of my new loves is Speedy. Tammy introduced us. It was love at first sight.

I asked Tammy to knit this sample for the shop so we could share the love and show off how pretty it is. You can wear Speedy as pictured or double wrap it. And it’s reversible!

Speedy is made with Manos del Uruguay’s Maxima yarn and uses the linen stitch, which creates that really neat texture. If you’re new to the linen stitch, this would be a perfect project for giving it a whirl. Tammy used two skeins of Maxima yarn in Natural and one skein of Maxima yarn in Shocking for this Speedy. The Shocking color really gives it a fun pop of color, don’t you think?

Naturally, after Speedy was finished, our next thought was — what hat could you knit to wear with it?

Stovetop Hat{Stovetop : knitting pattern by Tin Can Knits, available at Home Made}

Tammy’s sister Heather remembered me talking about the Stovetop hat that I made a few months ago. Since it was on her to-knit list, I enlisted her help to knit a matching one that we could show off with Speedy. Heather used Maxima yarn in Shocking, which really shows off all those pretty cable stitches.

If we have another long and dreary winter like last, this hat and cowl would definitely bring some sunshine to a winter get-up! Will you give either one a try?

You can find loads of Manos del Uruguay Maxima yarn at Home Made, the Stovetop Hat pattern knitting needles and other fun knitting stuff at Home Made. The Speedy Cowl pattern can be found here. If you don’t live nearby, just call 609.536.2940 and we’ll put together a mail order!
