Today we’re welcoming a yarn newcomer to the Home Made shop — Hikoo’s Kenzie! Have you knit with this yarn? It’s beautifully tweedy. That’s official knitting and textile terminology for ya. (:
Kenzie is a DK yarn made of New Zealand merino, angora and alpaca with a bit of nylon and silk noils. Yummmmm, right? If you’re asking what the heck DK means, it means that you should expect 5 stitches per inch when knit with a recommended needle size of US 6 – 8. This combination of fibers makes for a terrifically textured tweed with plenty of softness and strength that’s great for showing off stitch patterns and enduring lots of love. Like the cables we’ll be knitting for our Savannah Boot Liners class!
Some of the projects I’m dreaming of knitting with Kenzie are a solid version of this simple slouch hat for myself, a fair isle hat for Ezra, and this infinity scarf. I’d also be into designing my perfect moebius cowl or knitting up with a cozy cardigan with this yarn, too. Such decisions. . . What will you knit?
This dreary weather makes me want to cozy up with my knitting and a Law & Order marathon. If you are kindred spirit (and before you get all wrapped up in what’s going on in the worlds of Detectives Briscoe and Benson), stop into Home Made for supplies! (:
Hikoo’s Kenzie yarn, knitting patterns, knitting needles, and lots of other knitterly goodness is sold at Home Made. Don’t live nearby? Just call 609.536.2940 to put together a mail order.
