January Knit-A-Long : Endgame

Knit-A-Long with Knit Purl Hunter

How about we welcome 2015 with a Knit-A-Long?

Michelle Hunter, aka the Knit Purl Hunter, hosts progressive knit-a-longs where she offers the basic premise of a new pattern but keeps the details a secret. Then, each Thursday throughout the month, she reveals a bit more of the pattern with loads of helpful tutorials and information.

I know January feels like a long way off, but it’s really not. Hello December! Where did this year go? On January 1st, Michelle will reveal the first set of “clues” on her blog to get us started. While it’s up to you to follow along with her blog, we thought it’d be nice to have a little moral support and company for her January Knit-A-Long. So, on the two Saturdays of January 10 and January 24 from 10 AM – 12 PM, we’re hosting a Knit-A-Long “Knit-In” for all participants who purchase their yarn in the Home Made shop.

Here’s what we know about January’s KAL:

Hikoo's Kenzie Yarn

The project is a unisex cabled scarf called Endgame.

We’re using one of my new favorite yarns, Kenzie, and you will need 3-4 skeins of a single color. Three skeins will create a scarf that’s 6 1/2″ wide by 56″ long and four skeins will make a scarf that’s 6 1/2″ wide by 70″ long.

You’ll also need dk weight waste yarn in a contrasting color, size US 6 + US 7 needles (or size needed to obtain gauge), a cable needle, and a yarn needle.

The recommended gauge is 20 stitches = 4″ in stockinette using larger needle.

That’s it! Well, I pretty much summarized it all but you can read more here and here. Can you handle the suspense? ;)

If you’d like to participate, just pop into the Home Made shop to grab your supplies! And, if you’d like to join us for the two Saturday “Knit-Ins” to help you along in your project, just let us know at your time of purchase.

Hikoo’s Kenzie yarn, Addi needles, and loads of other knitterly goodness can be found at Home Made! Can’t make it in to our brick + mortar shop? Call 609.536.2940 to put together a mail order.
