Our Summer Hours will begin soon -- after the local schools get out and the helpers for my little ones are more available. They're teachers which means we are super lucky to have extra help during our busier summer months PLUS we can say that our kids have "private tutors" when we want to feel fancy. Starting the week of June 20, our brick and mortar shop will be open 5 days per week: Tuesday through Friday from 10AM - 5PM and Sunday 11AM-4PM. Most of our classes will continue to be held during the evenings and occasionally on a weekend day....

So, I've been drooling over Andrea Mowry's Find Your Fade shawl and I know I'm in good company. Have you seen all the pretty WIPs and finished ones here and here?! You can check out all her gorgeous patterns for loads of inspiration here.
I think what's so special about the Find Your Fade pattern is that it invites you to not only have a whole lot of fun selecting the colors for your "Fade," but also to make it uniquely yours. Choose one color or go for seven, make it from solid or semi-solid yarns, or pick speckled or multi-colored yarns that lead you from one color to another.
I'm ready to move my Find Your Fade shawl to the top of my queue. Will you join me? If you're local, we also have an upcoming Find Your Fade Shawl Class on Thursdays, March 23 & 30 from 6-8PM.

Holiday Hours: We'll be OPEN today (Christmas Eve), CLOSED Christmas Day (12/25), and then back open per usual New Year's Eve and New Year's Day!
It's already been one month since this sweet, sweet girl joined our family. As anticipated, her big brother has taken her arrival very well. He's a pretty caring and easy going little dude so we weren't too worried he'd resent her for stealing all the attention. Obviously, we'll see how this pans out when she can get her hands on his toys; but for now, he's all good. She did bribe him with a Lightning McQueen car to win his affections when she first met him so how could she be all that bad? And, unsurprisingly, her parents love her fearlessly but do seem to look a little harried with sleep deprivation these days. Did she even think to bribe us with some sort of anti-aging under-eye cream. What gives, Ruby?!

So, I'm really excited about our new kit that arrived, just in time for some holiday shopping and gifting. And, it's not just because I'm hopped up on coffee after staying up all the nights with this little lady either. ;)
New to the shop is the Aurora Knit Kit and it features Swans Island's gorgeous hand-tied, hand-dyed Ikat Collection Firefly yarn in a ready-to-gift kit that includes a 3-in-1 pattern booklet for the Aurora hat, neck warmer, and fingerless mitt set -- all in a canvas Swans Island Company tote!

You guys. You know when you finish certain projects and you can't help but congratulate yourself like, "Dang! I did good on this one!"? In case it's not obvious, that's how I feel about this sweater and coordinating hat I recently made for my little guy.
I used Tin Can Knits' Gramps pattern for the cardigan and their Antler Hat pattern the coordinating hat. To match the one I made for my husband. Awww, my guys. The yarn is Madelinetosh Tosh Vintage in the colors Fallen Cloud and Earl Grey. You hopefully already know that this yarn is pretty dreamy with which to knit and wears very well. And the colors. . .well. Even better in person.
