With family in the Floriday Keys, I spent quite a few Christmases during my childhood in a land where the Santas are barefoot and your “Miami Vice”-inspired outfit is always cool. A Key Largo Christmas also meant rooming with my snoring great-grandmother, learning how to hold my own in a cut-throat game of “Florida Rummy,” and having to make difficult choices about whether to get the flamingo or dolphin giant t-shirt and matching clip.
This Christmas, I won’t be soaking up the Florida sun. But, that’s okay because I’ll be spending it with my sweetheart, Finn (and, my parents, brother, and sis-in-law, of course). Are you traveling anywhere warm for the holidays or have any competitive card games planned with your family?
Oh, and don’t forget some changes in our holiday schedule–the Home Made shop will be open the abbreviated hours of 11AM – 3PM for both Christmas Eve (tomorrow!) and New Year’s Eve, and closed both Christmas Day and New Years Day.
Hope your holidays are filled with all your favorite things and all your favorite people!
Important note about the above photo: My brother would like you to know that he’s only holding Rainbow Brite’s dog as a favor to me so I could put my new Cabbage Patch doll on my head for the photo, channeling Detective James Crockett of course. Thanks, Jas. Couldn’t have done it without you. ;)
