Yep, that’s me taking in a sunset walk on the Avalon beach. In my hand knit Chili Pepper Hat! Should I also mention that in addition to enjoying long walks on the beach, I’m a Taurus and like to both work hard and play hard? ;)
The Chili Pepper Hat is a free knitting pattern on the Spud & Chloe blog, which you can find right here, and has become a popular project for Home Made shop regulars. Normally, I’m not much of a “pink” gal but I really love it paired with the pewter gray in this hat. Look at how perfectly this color combo went with the pink sky reflecting on the gray-ish water! Mother Nature and I talked on the phone the night before to coordinate our outfits.
This pattern uses Spud & Chloe Fine yarn, which is a gorgeous (and superwash!) silk/wool blend. I used Hippo (#7823) for the main color and Sassafras (#7808) for the stripes. The Chili Pepper hat is a fabulous pattern to try if you’re somewhat comfortable with knitting hats but want to try some sock yarn (don’t let those size 3 knitting needles intimidate you).
And, when you’re all finished, you can take your knitting up a notch and use the leftovers for stripes to make some knit socks like these. Or, if you’d like a warm-up and supervision while knitting socks, sign up to take our Baby Socks Class. Click here for class details!
Spud & Chloe yarns are available for purchase in the Home Made shop. (:
