My newest nephew, Lincoln, arrived last week! How sweet is he?!?!
So, Lincoln arrived just a smidge early. Normally, I’m a last-minute crafter staying up until the wee hours to finish handmade gifts. Thankfully, I was abnormally prepared for Lincoln’s birthday as I had stockpiled some baby gifts including a few organic cotton Super Quick + Easy Baby Quilts in anticipation for many upcoming baby showers.
Lincoln’s big brother Finn enjoyed snuggling up for a game of peek-a-boo with Lincoln’s new blanket, too. Love those munchkins. . .
While the Super Quick + Easy Baby Quilt can totally stand on its own as a beautiful gift for expecting parents, I decided to add a few burpies to make a little baby bundle. Why not?! Cloud9 Fabrics has a fabulous tutorial on their blog for contoured burp cloths using organic cotton on one side and snuggly, more absorbent flannel on the other. You can find the free pattern here.
I used some fun organic cotton fabrics from Birch Fabrics’ Circa 52 collection to make a few for Lincoln. One fat quarter each of cotton and flannel will make two burp cloths. Or, you can go for the 1/2 yard of each fabric and make four. Because they’ll definitely be put to good use!
Organic cotton fabric, flannel, batting, and thread can be purchased in the Home Made shop!
